Set up some water filled Gatorade plastic bottles targets at 650- 700 yds ? Range finder gave reading on closer rocks of 600 yds. Wind about 5-10mph ? Zeiss 5x25x50MM HD scope, shooting off a home made bench in the NV desert. Rem 700 30" Brux 8" bbl Jewell Trigger. 51grs of H4831 SC behind 87gr V-max. 3625 Average velocity.1st shot way low adjusted up 1 MOA 2nd shot closer,up another MOA and it looked like my elevation was ok. ( By my self trying to see the dust kicking up ) Fired a few more shots and missed every one. Trying to maintain a zero on that size target at 700 yds was challenging. Next time I'll go with a big reflective target, wind flags and try again. Still had fun.

I use freemaptools.com when I don't have a range finder and it drops a pin where you are. Just drop another where the target is and its dead on to a few feet. First round hit unless I fuck up elsewhere.

Hey Iron Worker, did you post this in LRH? I remember discussing the x284 over there but can't remember the details. Are you using a slower twist requiring the V-max? Spotting hits at 600+ with lower bullet weights was always a PITA for me too. Those are days when a buddy running a spotter are well worth the beer $ :D

Have you shot it at steel or paper at those ranges? How did it group?
