So I am looking to replace the Overmold stock that came on mySPS Tactical with either the B&C Medalist Sendero style 1 or the Tactical Medalist style 4 (M40 variant).

So what are the pros and cons to these two stocks?

My only previous experiance is limited to my 700 Sendero in 270. Am mostly an AR15 shooter.

I would also check out the light tactical with the butt hook. Either way you won't go wrong with the B&C. Great product at a great price. IMHO.

But after using it to weld the stock to the shoulder while controlling the rear squeeze bag at the same time I have grown fond of them. The B&C is a great stock by the way. I have 3 of them now.

I'm a fan of the M40 model. The bedding block extends out a little farther than other B&C medalists stocks.

The Light-Tactical isn't bad, but I like the M40 a bit better.

Happy with my M40 style. They claim the monte carlo cheek piece is supposed to give you proper height for large scopes, but even with my 42 mm objective as low as I could personally get it I need to add mouse pad. Soon I will be getting a stock pack to help with that.

I wanted to try out the butt hook version but I couldnt find one locally to check out so I just played it safe and stuck with this one.

B&C make very good stocks for the money, you can't really go wrong with em, and their warranty is great as well. I love the light tactical, I wish I could get one but they don't make it for left handed savage rifles.

Re: Looking at B&C stocks for 700 SPS Tactical

If I'm using a rear bag, would the butt hook really come into play?

the noobie, that M40 looks very nice.

And 220SWIFT AI, I do like that color pattern.

Re: Looking at B&C stocks for 700 SPS Tactical

I use mine with a rear bag, do I need the "hook"? nope, have and do shoot many rifles without it, with no issue, but I do find I really like the feel rear bag or not from a rest/bipod, off-hand obviously it doesn't matter. The one major potential draw back is that what buttstock is availible for the bag is very nearly flat, which means sliding the bag for course elevation changes isn't nearly as much of an option. Both have the same comb height or very near the M40 has much more drop at the heel. Bedding block should be the same, however much is exposed may vary, but the chassis itself extends all the way out to almost the very end of the forearm. I figured WTH and ordered the light tac without knowing whether I'd like it or not. If you really like the M40 style, get it, you're not giving up much and possibly nothing.
Cause pics always help.

Have a 9-13" bipod from the wife's SCAR16 but it seems too tall. So am going to need to get a 6-9" version for this.
