That magpul chassis is a POS. I'd take a MDT XRS before that Magpul any day of the week and twice on Sunday. The Origin and Proof prefit is a solid choice. Don't screw it up by putting a POS chassis under it.

This guy went from Cadex to Magpul to McMillan now to krg with night vision. I’m gonna bet against any rifle purchase actually happening.
How many times can one person blatantly ignore the advice of people who actually own these things and shoot.
Also the McMillan a5 is basically a temu manners t4-a which is in stock and ready to ship tomorrow with no inletting or work required.

I think the OP needs to get to the range and try some of these out... Im going to say it again... I made the same mistakes... I wanted an MPA ESR, but then tried it and a Matrix Pro II... went with the PRO II. I also have a MDT ACC Premium and love that as well... KRG makes some great chassis and I will build another with a C-4 eventually. The Manners t4-a would be a good stock as well.. they all work for their intended purposes and there are drawbacks to each. Im now shooting a Woox Furious Ultra and LOVE it.
Really suggest getting behind these or getting into a shop that has several in stock and you can handle them. Eventually you WILL want to go with ARCA. So getting something that does have the ability to attach a rail section to for now but has the integrated ARCA. I would suggest very heavily to get into something with an integrated ARCA or one you can put an ARCA onto...Or you are going to start shooting more and want an ARCA.
But the OP is going to have to make his own decisions and his own mistakes, after all that is the best way to learn.
These are some old pics, but I love mine. Bartlein heavy Palma in the pic. Plenty of room. Picked it up for $600 used in the px. Came with the spigot and toolless butt height and a few other items that escape me at the moment.

Or now here me out. I'm new to precision rifle shooting amd am asking questions while also trying to figure out a look that I like for the rifle. I have the action and barrel picked out the action and barrel and trigger but was looking for input on a stock.
If you like the military look, and want a great rifle, just buy an Accuracy International AX or ATX used off here for around $4,500-$5,000 throw a scope on it and shoot the piss out of it.
For a new guy that doesn't have experience with gear, I think you either find a match to try out other peoples gear, find a shop with all that gear to at least get behind it, or buy a popular/fully configurable chassis. I'm a big fan of Manners stocks, but a stock is simply not as configurable and leaves a lot to be desired if your selected stock doesn't fit you.
I also have many KRG chassis, and like them a lot, but they are not as configurable as other chassis. The MDT ACC Elite is completely configurable and is an easy button in terms of resale. Obviously there are other options as well - like MPA.

Ah....while we probably all don't want an ugly gun (though there probably is someone...somewhere who really wants a fuchsia chassis with matching barrel! haha), they are not really a fashion accessory.
Get the chassis or stock that fits you, has the adjustments you want, that fits your use case, that you believe to be well made and of high quality, from a manf that has decent customer support.
Then get it cerakoted fuchsia! haha
Can def get a MPA for 3k (with coupon) or less and those are bad ass rigs, but that has already been floated here several times. Now... let's wait until the OP asks about Optics! That's going to be a good thread too!

Don’t think it’s stainless, but if you like LR, it would satisfy your itch while not being too expensive. Plus it’s easy to sell and CTR mags rock IMHO. KRG and others make chassis for Tikka.
Or maybe some other Tikka 308 catches you fancy?
I own a Tikka Super Varmint in 223. I bought a prefit 204 barrel from Bugholes and got a Sterk bolt handle b/c I like my AI swept bolt knob. For bling I added TRG-lookalike bolt shroud and then popped it into a Bravo. As someone new to bolt guns, skip the bolt shroud as it required some fitting.
With the factory 223 barrel. I did buy KRG‘s Midas 2 stage trigger for it, but with a $10 spring the stock Tikka trigger is very good.
For those with sharp eyes, this is not the same action as above. It’s a different Tikka, a SS one, but it’s the only pic of my Sterk knob that I can find right now.
Cheap-ish doesn’t have to suck.
You wanna spend $3k? Then others have given you good advice.
- You’re shooting 308 at steel(?) out to 1000
- Have you done that before?
- Do you already know you like it?
- Is there a range close enough to you so you can do it with some frequency?
- What scope do you plan on using?

What area of the country do you live in? Maybe there is a SH member that you can meet up with at a local range and maybe get behind some of their rigs. If you are in the DC metro area Im game to meet up and let you shoot a few of my rifles. Time allowing of course.
1500 is a little bit of an awkward zone... going up a bit you get into the Zeiss S3 and Element range (on sale of maybe like new condition) Both very good for their price. Scopes to me are defiantly a buy once cry once item if Ive ever seen one.

This is the easy button, ubiquitous, can't go wrong build recipe. There's probably one thread a month just like this one that all comes to the same conclusion.
Someone, .....@mossad , @Zermatt Arms, Proof should get together and just sell an Origin, Bravo, Proof prefit, TT, rifle all put together, assembled ready to go. I don't think Front Range Precision is on here anymore but this seems like something up his alley. Maybe the dude from Next Shot Precision in Utah could do something like that.
Look at a used Sako TRG. I picked one up recently with a bunch accessories for only $2800 (bipod, extra mags, and rail). They're half MOA guns.
Solid option. Can vouch for the half minute claim. My brother picked one up off a member here for $2,500. I think its a gen1 folder.
The proprietary trigger, action footprint, and chassis options of the TRG always kept me away. It always seemed like you could get Sako TRG like feels out of a Tikka T3 in a KRG chassis. With the add on bonus of prefit barrels
I agree, to a point. The trg is a little tighter, more refined feeling to me. The tikkas are almost as slick. It's really close.
This is his T3X. It's getting a new chassis to go with the 26" barrel we put on it this past weekend. I told him it needs a W3 to mimic the two trg's he has. He's a finnattic.
