got a friend looking for a scope.

He says: I would like it to be front focal plane, good turrets...track well etc, good glass, and looking at the 6-24x power

budget is $850.

haha that is exactly what he waslooking at. any leupolds in that $ range worth looking at?

In that price range, IMO the most scope for the $$$$ would be a used IOR 2.5-10x42 (although not even close to a 6-24).

I am amazed at all of the recommendations for a scope that has yet to hit the market.
No one can say for certain that they will even hit the market on time or that they won't have QC issues with 900 dollar scopes assembled in a third world country that is one major typhoon or earthquake away from not being able to provide the product (both happen with regularity in the area).

By ALL accounts Vortex is n excellent company that insists on excellent customer service as a way to do business and I appalaud them for that, but I would caution one not to be the guinea pig and give them a chance to get all the bugs worked out.

FWIW, Weaver has a tactical scope that comes close to meeting his needs if he is in the market for one now.

fdkay,
Don't confuse the issue with sound logic. Many folks have a tendency to get excited and recommend items that have yet to see the light of day. I have been amazed watching this very same thing on optics costing many times what this item does... Things that make you wonder about the fool and his money bit...

Thumbs up for thinking...

Btw, not pointed at anyone in this thread. Merely noting a phenomenon that I find humorous in our consumer driven society..

If you can give up the FFP, I'd take a look at the Sightron SIII 6-24. Has excellent glass and tracking, but a mil-dot reticle with MOA knobs and, as I already mentioned, is SFP. But still, a great scope. Many people have run box tests with them and they do well.
