Rifle Scopes Looking for a hunting scope for dad

Hey everyone, my dad and I go mule deer hunting in west Texas every year and he’s finally looking to upgrade his rifle and scope. His budget is around 2k. I don’t think he’d like a First Focal Plane, just because he sometimes shoots on low power settings and may not be able to pick up a thin FFP reticle. He wants something he can zoom in with too, so I’m thinking something in the 22-28 top end power. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone!

2k gets you a heck of a good scope. I'd go SFP. A buddy of mine has a NF SHV that gets the job done (and well below 2 grand). Smoked an elk at 750 with a .338. There's also plenty of quality Leupolds and Vortex SFP out there that will work. You may want to consider something that also works well in low light - look up the Trijicon HX collection. What kind of rifle does he have?

Sightron SIII, but low power will be 6x. You probably wont be able to upgrade both and get a rifle and scope with that much top end and lower than a 6x on the bottom. A 3-18 or 3-15 would be more doable. Doug might get you a deal on a Z5 Swaro, but the rifle will be a pretty bone stock Savage, Howa or Rem ADL.

Get a rifle he likes with the money left over. Maybe a Howa barrelled action and a $400 stock if you can find a scope for 1k or less. Too bad Grayboe doesn't manufacture for Howa.

I like the arken its cheap simple to use but limited on ret choices could also try swamp fox again cheap price wise while the arken has a 34mm the swamp fox is a 30mm or maybe a vortex not that bad on the pocket and there warranty is hard to beat . good luck and may he he have a blast with what ever you decide to get him .
