Rifle Scopes Looking for a scope for a newbie.

I'm looking for a 500 to 1000 yard scope to start off with then out to 1400 yards. The only problem i have is the green backs. I have $500 saved and don't see much more in the future. Wife decided that she needed to go back to school and only one income is killing me now. Im looking for a mil-dot. I found a Millett 6-25-56 for 400 brand new. Is it worth it to get me through 2 more years till i can start saving again? Or is there something else that is better?

Try to scrape together a few more bucks and get a SFP 4-16x Vortex Viper PST. They are $699 at SWFA. If you just can't manage any more...than I'd go with the SWFA SS 10xSF $399 at SWFA. Both have 30mm tubes, rugged construction, available in MIL & MOA, and have lots of adjustment for long ranges. Good luck.
