I would like to keep something in the truck that can get out pretty far. I have a 1000 yard range I hit a few times a week here on the ranch. It would be easier not have to load a bunch of shit up just to shoot 20 rounds. Just leave the gun in the truck and retire my 30-30. everything I have besides ar's are 30-06 and above. The savage light weight hunter in 6.5 creedmoor (idk how recoil would be in 6.5 in such a light gun) and .243 look great. Also in 260 Or I could do a custom build for twice the price. A fast twist 22-250 or 220 swift or 204 ruger would be a option but there not handy with 26 inch barrels in the cab of a truck. Is this gun in
creedmoor with 20 inch barrel a legit 1000 yard gun. I would think so. And yes it will be used to dispatch hogs and coyotes ethically or unethicalaly. From inside the cab of a truck. I have permits so I don't give a damn they are a scourge on a cattle ranch

Dang, I'll just comment on the platform. No issues to whatever is legal,,,do what you can do. But I'm trying to figure out your platform for shots out of a truck at a 1000. Body position, rear support all seem odd. Just something to take in account. And now weight, truck gun, not leaving cab? Make whatever as heavy as you can. Your title: Low recoil, short, lightweight, all sounds fine. You just add the long range part, that throws me off, adding the truck cab position pushes it further. If you loose the lightweight part of your build, think you would be closer to what you need. I think a 12-15 pound 260 with a 20 inch barrel would be a good option?

Sorry I should of been more clear. The 1000 yard capability is for when I stop by the range. Instead hauling a whole mess of stuff cases bags etc. and big guns just load 20 rounds a night to keep. the skills up a few times a week. I need the handyness for dispatching pigs and coyotes whenever possible not from those ranges. I figured the creedmoor or .243 with 105s would get close

Yeah, the Savage in any of the cartridges you mention will get you out to 1k without a problem. I'd go the model 12 or 10LE series as they have heavier barrels most of the upgrades are either pillar bedding, or aluminum block bedded. That will make for an accuracy improvement as much as the barrel.

The rifle im looking at is 5.5lbs and has 20 inch barrels in 6.5cm 260 .243 among others etc etc. Those are the cals i would be interested in. Im not to worried in velocity probably lose 100fps over a 24-26 barrel in either of the 6.5mm loads. From what ive researsched. So i should be able to launch 140s in the 2700fps range.
