got a good buddy who is looking to monitor a trail road going into his property, he thinks someone is stealing some extra timber off his land.

I have no real experience w/ cams..looking for some input as to some good choices. He plans to mount it on the trailhead on a wide open spot.

any and all suggestions welcome.

thanks guys..

Re: looking for advice on trail cams

Any of the models that are infrared so there is no flash will work. The flash will give the camera away. The Cuddeback is nice. I use the non IR, flash version with 2GB memory cards. It will hold more pics than the batteries can take.

Re: looking for advice on trail cams

As said above go with IR so you dont have a flash... I love the cuddebacks but some companys now offer gps tracking and pics delivered via email or cellphone... That would probably be more helpful in a case like this... Either way I would build or buy the device that locks it to the tree... may not keep it from getting stolen but will make it a lil harder lol

Re: looking for advice on trail cams

I'd go with IR too... but if it's on a road, and he's trying to catch a vehicle, he probably needs a higher quality one than they crappy $75 dollar models.

just stay away from teh moultrie infrared cameras... they take great photos and have great battery life, but will probably crap out after 2-3 months of use....

Also look to make sure that you can hook up a solar panel to the camera. This is a huge help because you never will have to run out to the camera once a week to put batteries in it.
