I'm finally in a position to purchase a PVS14 and IR Laser for night time critter killing. I will also get a handheld thermal for scanning, but that's for another day.

I recall a thread on the Scout Hide where i believe @Lowlight posted about a PVS14 that had a blue-ish tint instead of the traditional green. The pics posted in the thread were phenomenal.

Does anyone remember the company? Or have a link to the old thread? My google-fu is weak.

Can anyone who purchased one of those units provide feedback?

Thanks in advance.

Will

Yes, i think that was it. I think someone was doing a limited run back then.

Does anyone have feedback on durability and/or longevity? Or how available they are?

Any reason NOT to go this route ?

Thanks Dag and Vic.

Green vs White is a personal preference. The tube specs are what matter the most.

The Photonis white tubes vs L3 filmless white tubes are different but look at comparison videos and think about the environment you will use them in. They are both great but in slightly different areas.

This.

Personally, I think the white tends to show more definition even with the gain low. Could be me.

But I'd rather have an OMNI7 ITT hand select unit built to my specs than have say, a milspec L3 OMNI8 or whatever. Signal to noise was a big one for me, so I had that maxxed out on mine and it tends to work better in the dark canopy and constant rain vs. the issue set I had.

I'd like to get a hand select dual aviator setup with phosphor tubes but that's on hold indefinitely...

As for performance, again, they both do well and stand up well, when I talked to Vic at TNVC he basically told me it's up to the user. If you have more questions about it, you should call them. Great people and they do you right and don't blow smoke up your ass.

Thanks Stryker. Based on some interwebs videos, white might be the way to go. I need to research more.

I will definitely give TNVC a shout.
