Re: looking for bullet info .308

Very nice collection. I have been hunting w/ an L-579 in .308 for the last several years as well. I've taken two elk, deer and antelope w/ it. I like 165 grain bullets as well. I've never been able to find a load that this rifle likes. Keeping groups consistently under 1.5" isn't working. Until I figure out what it likes to eat, I use a different rifle when hunting in open country.

There's a lot of good reading on this site.

Try IMR 4064, start at 42.0 grains and go up...

Re: looking for bullet info .308

4064 has been a good powder for me. I've done everything I can do from a reloading standpoint except for a couple of loads I've yet to try. I'm at the point where I'm ready to find a buyer for it and move on to a different rifle. I'm tired of spending my time in load development for this rifle.
