Im going to be building a new rifle and considering a new caliber for LR use, and have been looking at the 260 Rem. What I really would like to know is if anyone has info on this round being Ackley Improved? What velocity gains are there? Or is it worth it?
Also any opinions of the caliber or extra info would be great.
Thanks.

I have no experience with the .260 Ack Imp but I do with the standard .260 Rem. Terry Cross turned me on to it and would be the man to ask for all the pros and cons for both. My opinion of the .260 rem I just wish I would have built one sooner! I've designed and built a couple for my customers and they say the same thing. An absolute TACK driver. I'm used to shooting 30/338 LM and 338 LM but this little cartridge (260) shoots big! Out to 1200 yards no problem and I've shot it out to 1650 yards with GREAT accuracy on 12" dia steel plates. You will not regret a .260 build Improved or not improved. There is alot of info on the web like 6mmbr.com and other sites about the 260.

Good luck!

Thanks for the link, I already have that article. Im on 6mmbr and demigod all the time, and have been reading everything I can find. Im really looking for some personal opinions, kind of hoping some one will talk me out of it and save me a bunch of money. But if its as good as it seems to be, its going to be my next rifle.
