Looking For Information on a 9mm Factory Load

I have been shooting these Fiocchi 124gr FMJ Cartridges as range ammo. I am perplexed about them. I apologize in advance for this not being a reloading question, but this is the room I am most comfortable in. What is the shiny coating on these bullets? And why are they this way? Also, is the brass good to reload?

I think he means the brass sheen of the bullets whete one would expect copper. I’ve wondered too but not enough to try and find out.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. The projectile. The bullet appears to be brass. But there is no way it is. Highly polished copper projectiles?

Obviously some coating like you see on the chrome looking bullets you often see.

I was curious about this as well. I tore at one with my pocket knife. That color is all the way through. The entire jacket is the gold color.

If you want inexpensive ammo they have to cut cost somewhere.

Copper jacketed projectiles are not covered with pure copper unless they’re plated. The jackets are an alloy. The more zinc, the more brassy they look.

Thanks to all for the replies. I have my answer. It's just inexpensive range ammo. Was really hoping to figure out what metal the bullets are made of. But I'm guessing that unless I do a metallurgy test, we will just have to go with the whole JFK theory...

The brass is very good, I've been reloading it for years.
