So, when I made the purchase a few years back, I know I paid extra for the Scalpel stamping. It has been a great shooting, trouble free rifle for several years now. The 300WM barrel has held up well but I am getting the itch to go with a faster twist than the 1 in 10 that came on it.
I just don't think Surgeon is a good option to provide a new barrel for it (sadly) so I'm looking for options elsewhere. Surgeon won't even answer the damn phone!
I wonder out loud if it matters that I maintain the Scalpel name? Maybe I'd be better off to have a trusted gunsmith do a new barrel and I'll just hang on to the original.

The Scalpel name is more likely to hurt rather than help at this point. Also, resale on any LR rifle is in the tank. Change it, shoot it, enjoy it. Do not consider it an investment or more correctly, consider it a poor investment.

Well, at least it ain't a Remington. :ROFLMAO:
I didn't pay new price for it and it still has value to me as it is my only long action now. I'm thinking 300PRC this time.

I bet there isn't much, if any, difference in the tenon for Impact and Surgeon, especially if Impact has a long action platform too.

At one time the hottest action out there. Just like all the guys that went ape over PVA and now are selling them off, unfired, because they paid deposits and waited for 2 years. Impact seem to be the 'golden child" right now. Get 'em while they're hot cuz they will get the hammer soon enough.
Fickle, I believe it is.
