Have not been paying too much attention to the news lately (too damn depressing. I have a 6 y.o. daughter and an 11 y.o son) and just saw the politicians and media are going extra stupid again. I was going to wait till next spring to buy a AR-10 lower but think I should get one now. All the places I checked are back ordered. Anyone know of an on-line vendor or shop that will ship a stripped lower to my FFL in Kalifornia? At this point I am not going to be particular about the brand as long as it is decent quality. I think the upper/barrel are more important to accuracy anyway.

I have a couple of AR-15's only because I thought ahead and bought a pair of stripped lowers back in 1999 just before CA passed their AW ban...

If anyone knows where I can find a .308 lower please let me know. As it is, I can legally build one with a "bullet button" and a 10 round mag for now.

Re: Looking for vendor that has a .308 Lower for sale

I went through this with a co-worker earlier this morning with at least a dozen different retailers I use...no joy. If you can track one down...don't pause to think about it...DO IT!

Additionally, check the various forums that have "for sale" sections such as the BARFCOM EE AR-10 section (which has Armalite pattern and all other .308 AR stuff too). I just saw one on BARFCOM sell earlier today for $300+ (for a stripped Armalite AR-10B lower)...that's likely about the best you'll see right now if at all.

Re: Looking for vendor that has a .308 Lower for sale

Sorry for momentarily high-jack this thread but what is a reasonable price for a nitride POF stripped lower? My local gun shop has a couple left. We've seen huge price increases so I dont want to get ripped off too bad..

Firearms4less has Black rain ordnance upper and lower combo's in stock. The prices have been on the rise there daily, get it now before it is out of range

You might check out JD Machining (google them). They're down in Old Town San Diego (used to be next to SPAWAR), and make pretty decent AR and LR uppers/lowers.

Here's the link:

Yeah, Looked at their website yesterday. I was actually in their factory years ago (the one by SPAWAR) and even their prior place back before they started making guns. My buddy is good friends with Jesse and I sent him an email yesterday to see if he could talk to him and shake a lower loose for me... However my friend is in China (runs a manufacturing plant) and probably won't be back in the US until Chinese New year in Feb. rather than coming back for Xmas. I am sure JD is swamped with orders and making all they can right now... Prices are getting ridiculous... $500-$600 for a lower on Gunbroker... Wondering if I should just find an 80% and make my own...

Re: Looking for vendor that has a .308 Lower for sale

I can't recall the name of the place, but there is a place in Carlsbad (of all places) that has 80%'s and sponsors "build parties". The usual "here's your 80%, there's the machine, lock it into the jig and press the "start" button" dealio. Someone local was telling me about it, as they had done up an AR that way (specifically as a "homebuild" so there was no serial number involved; the guy didn't want the government knocking on the door to confiscate it when they banned AR's). Makes sense in a way...

Yep. Ares Armor in Oceanside about 15 min from where I work in Carlsbad. I had looked into them as well. Been thinking of making some spare AR-15 lowers "just in case"... They are out of 80% .308 lowers right now though...
