A buddy is wanting to take a savage 110 action in 7mm and convert it to a 338 edge. Wanting to do it on a budget. Will only shoot it 100 times a year at most. What would be your recommendation to do.

It will cost a lot to shoot that. Considering hes a "budget" builder I have trouble seeing him pay for reloading components.

The budget part is we don't have a range regularly to shoot over 1000 yards on the weekends. Just once or twice a year do we get out to shoot 2k.

You can buy a prefit 338 edge barrel for 320 from McGowan outlet. Buy a better recoil lug and nut. Borrow a wrench and he should only have 350 in it. Spin the new barrel on with lug.
He's still going to spend a good chunk more on brass bullets and powder.
