Hi guys... and girls!
I want to start by telling that it's great to finally join SH and not just be reading.
I have to say that I've seen a lot of good looking rigs. Nice to see that there are
many people that really enjoy the sport and also fully committed to it.

Since I live by the theory "master your system as good as you can" it's finally time for me to look for a new barrel. I was thinking about Lothar Walther, what do you think about their products? It's for my 300wm.

Thanks

Re: Lothar Walther

Welcome to the Hide. Lothar-Walther barrels are very good. Not too many people are using them in the US but don't let that influence your decision. What rifle will this barrel be used on?

Re: Lothar Walther

Have you picked a gunsmith yet? I would start there and ask them for recommendations first. Your gunsmith should know the local barrel market best and know what the locals are using with best results.

Lothar Walther certainly carries a great reputation with their barrels.

Re: Lothar Walther

I have 3 different AR's with LW barrels and all of them shoot sub-moa with match ammo. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of their barrels for a bolt gun.

Re: Lothar Walther

I have LW barrel 0.308 WIN and very impressed with the results I get.
I also have one with progressive twist which is the most accurate 0.338LM barrel I have seen and I already shot over 2k rounds through it.
I really like the conturs and the online customization.

Re: Lothar Walther

Yep, LW was actually his idea but since I never shot with one of those, and don't know anyone that has one, I kind of fellt that it would be a good thing to ask the people that may have tried them. So that's why I ask

Re: Lothar Walther

I have 2 bolt guns with LW tubes. One is a CZ mini mauser done by LOSOK custom in 300-221 with a 1-8 tr. The other is a 30.06 with a 1-10tr that was installed by Mark Gordon at SAC. Both are solid performers, and I would not hesitate to buy another LW barrel.

Re: Lothar Walther

I've nothing but good stories from alot of people about LW.
Not only are they very accurite but I've heard that they take longer to shoot out because they use a special steel for their barrels that is more resistant to throat erosion.

* I can not confirm this first hand as I do not own any LW barrels, it's just what I've read/heard. *
