Interesting to see the proportional coverage by cause is nearly identical between New York Times and The Guardian. What a coincidence.
Well, heart disease and cancer are essentially “natural causes” in as much as it’s not individual decisions causing death. It’s not exactly “news” people die of either, and it’s not terribly interesting to me unless I know the person.
Gates supposes we’re all terrified of “death”, and this is what we care most about. That’s simply not the case. Since he’s a gajillioniair maybe that’s the shit that scares him the most, but my soul is prepared.
I care a lot more about people behaving badly than the physical entropy of individual human beings.
So, no, I don’t worry about shit the media reports, but I do pay attention, and I wouldn’t if it was 50% about heart disease and cancer.

The media will spin this into a story about heart disease, not how much the media sucks at their job. And Bill Gates will be happy.
