I'm trying to find a reliable variable power illuminated scope that starts at 2 power max. It's for hunting black bear and deer from basically point blank to 400 yards. I'm often hunting in woods and it can get very dark very early. In an ideal world it wold have:
-Exposed elevation turret
-Capped or lockable windage turret
-Simple reticle with only a small portion illuminated
-Parallax adjustment knob
-Lest than $500

Was thinking 2-8x32 power but I'm also looking at some of the LPVO 3 gun type scopes like a 1-5x24. Are the smaller objective lenses in these adequate for low light hunting?

Wow, that's a great price! I was looking at that one but the price was $650 on ebay. How is a smaller scope like that in lower light? It's my understanding that lower magnafications don't need as large an objective lens correct?

Hmm, I guess I have to compromise to better light gathering then. That will probably be more important. I see you have on sale
Athlon Optics Ares BTR 2.5-15x50 - APLR3 FFP IR MIL (Open Box) Same as NEW
Meopta Optika6 2.5-15x44 SFP - .223

Do I understand correctly that the Ares has locking turrects? And the Optika is illuminated correct?

I'm kind of looking at the Athlon 2.5-15x50 Midas HMR. Just wish it was lower power and the 50mm objective is a little big for my liking.
How is the glass on the hmr? I’ve been going back and forth between the Midas hmr and the Optika6. Need to give Doug a call actually
