Just a quick topic of my own personal agony with semi auto rifles.

I bought a dpms lr 308 and it would only extract about every other shell all the way. Some times it would stove pipe and sometimes it would just spin the brass 180 in the action and then smash the mouth of the shell. And the rare occasion it did extract it would just barely dump the shell out of the receiver.

I had a new extractor put in it and also had the buffer weighted down so it wouldn't cycle as fast or hard. All the work was done by a smith.

I took the rifle out again today and it doesn't spin the shell in the receiver anymore but it still stove pipes and still just barely dumps the shell out of the rifle.

The sith said it cycled good with fggm but I cant seem to get it to cycle with my hand loads

Any ideas?

Ejector? Sounds like its extracting fine, but not ejecting. I would take my bolt out and push on the ejector with a punch to check spring tension.

The bolt does not not back with out a mag in it when single feeding the rifle or when mag feeding. And I don't know about the gas block lining up. I took the ejector apart tonight and when I compared the springs it was compressed a lot more than the one in the parts kit. So I put a new spring in the ejector and it was actually kicking the brass out of the gun but I didn't have a mag with me when I test fired it and the bolt wasn't locking back.

I really appreciate all the help you guys are giving me. And I probably should have just sent it to you chad.
