Hey all. I picked up a nib LWRC quad rail to replace an old arms sir mount on a lmt di gun. I've never seen anything like this:

It didn't come with any kind of barrel nut. Am I missing something ,be it parts or common sense? Anyone with experience on this thing, I'd sure appreciate your insight.

I'm not sure why the pics didn't come through. I posted them from my phone and I can see them when I look at this thread on it, but not from my desktop....Fuck, anyway, These LWRC handgaurds are full length 1913 rails at 9,12,3, and 6 o'clock. It has 2 small tabs protruding at the lower part at the rear. The main portion of the upper half of the rail detaches when you loosen two screws at the front of the handgaurd, and the handgaurd appears to have a clamp at the rear, but I'm apparently not cerebral enough to determine to what they are supposed to clamp to. Again, any help from someone who is running these, or has installed them would be appreciated.

You're not missing any parts - the existing barrel nut is sandwiched between the lower section of the Rail and the small upper section of the rail. The small "tabs" protruding from the rear of the main section of the lower half of the Rail sort of index between the half moons of the barrel nut, so in this regard the nut has to be tightened within just so.

That said, all you have to do is to loosen the four (4) screws that hold the lower half of the Rail and the small upper rear section together, position the two sections over the barrel nut while "indexing" the two small tabs, then tighten the four (4) screws to unify the lower half of the Rail and the small upper rear section together. Hope that helps.

Aires, thanks for your thoughtful reply. I won't get time to check this till Tuesday. I may pm you if I cant overcome my own density. I had the SIR mount off yesterday and couldnt figure out how the tabs would fit around the barrel nut and not hit the upper while still having the handgaurd match up with the LMT upper. Stay tuned. I'm left handed and I've got a hammer.
