If you are wanting a piston-driven AR-platform rifle/carbine, I'd look no further than the POF!!!

Both the POF 5.56 and 7.62 short-stroke gas piston systems are excellent in my experience. Very solid builds using only the best components, including Rock 5R barrels, which produce highly reliable and accurate rifles/carbines. POF is also a company that stands behind its products and actively supports the shooting community. They also have several members here on the forum who are active in responding to questions/concerns and who work hard to ensure that customers are 100% satisfied with their equipment.

LWRC, but I'm biased, and not just because I have several.

Fit, finish, and most importantly, customer service can't be beat. Current production is based on lessons learned from four years of what was probably the most extreme testing ever done on a modern firearm (Jordan). Jointly tested and approved by DEA Firearms Training Unit and FBI Firearms Training Unit Ballistic Research Facility (reports available to LE agencies).

Only drawback is price, but you get what you pay for and for the features you get, they are not overpriced.

A detailed review, with numerous pics, is available at Expedition Exchange on their LWRC page. Mods, I hope it is not inappropriate to mention a commercial site. I have no relationship with them but mention the site for informational purposes only.

I own 3 LWRC's: 6.8 PSD, 5.56 A1, and 5.56 A3; love them all. The REPR had growing pains with new design. Ask yourself a rhetorical question: "Why do I want to own a piston rifle?" IMHO, piston is unbeatable for tactical shooters when you can shoot thousands of rounds without cleaning. But for precision semi-auto's when round numbers are usually lower - what is important? The old DI design has nothing wrong if you properly lubricate it. I went with Larue OBR. Shot 0.7" MOA @ 100 on my first outing. I'm not bragging since I'm a new AR shooter, but just making a point that the OBR makes you a good shooter. Will post soon pics and review. If you're decided on a piston, I've read and heard nothing bad about the LMT or POF (but have no experience).
Whatever you pick, good luck and have fun.
