I'm in the market for a powder dispenser, and I'm pretty sure ill take the jump for the Chargemaster, but I see Lyman just came out with the Gen5 and Gen6 dispenser.

Does anyone have experience with the new Lyman models? Are they better than their older 1200 model?

My guy tells me to just go with the Chargemaster, but I figured I'd check anyway

I have a Pact - it works well enough not to replace it, but when it breaks I'll be trying another. It.s fast enough for my reloading pattern when doing ~25gr, but I could benefit from faster at heavier loads.

If I were in the market, I'd be looking for reviews of the Lyman 5th and 6th. The advertising copy addresses the common annoyances, but who knows whether the device itself actually does lol.

As for memory features . . . heh . . . if I could remember the code required to get the device to dispense "my favorite load", I could remember my favorite load itself lol. But memory + firearm stuff = trouble, at least for me lol.

Looking at the Lyman specs, they both state 2 grains per second.

The link above shows a 50.5 grain load dispensed in 9, 19, and 15 seconds (rounded, not sure how they timed to the hundredth of a second). The Lyman Gen 5 and 6 would be around 25 seconds for the same load.

I ended up getting the Chargemaster last night. It was on sale at Cabelas and I had alot of rewards points and gift cards.

I couldn't find many reviews on the new Lyman dispensers, and even though they might be good machines, I knew the Chargemaster was tried and true.

Last night I tightened up the parameters and put a straw in it and did some loading. Right now I'm trying to figure out why I waited this long to buy one. I can forsee it being one of my most valued pieces of equipment.
