Has anyone else been having problems with the springs and followers with the 10-rd magazines for their M&P45's??? I was at the range last night and it malfunctioned, the follower was stuck down in the mag with 3 rounds still left to go. I had to take the bottom off in order to get the rounds out. I've had this happen to me while unloading mags but never while firing them. This was my personal carry gun, but after last night I think I'll switch back to my Glock 19 or FNP-9 until I can get this straightened out.

Any help, suggestions, smart ass remarks? lol

Re: M&P 45 problems!!

I have never had that happen, but a few things to check are:

1) Fouling in the mag body (see Downzero's comment);

2) A burr on the inside of the mag body or on the follower that is getting "hung up";

3) Bad mag spring;

4) Damaged mag body (dented, bent, out of spec from the factory, etc.); and/or

5) Depending on where the follower is getting snagged, is it the same position as where the mag catch/release contacts the mag? If so, it may be a mag catch/release problem...check there too.

If this is only happening on one mag, you might try pulling apart all your mags and comparing them piece by piece. Are the springs the same size? Do the followers look the same/have the same dimensions? Any other irregularities?

Process of elimination...get to it!!!

(and good luck)!

Re: M&P 45 problems!!

I had a mag in my G21 that would hang up. There was no debris in the mag body but the follower had a burr. After sanding the burr down it works all the time like the rest of them.

Re: M&P 45 problems!!

I figured out what the problem was, it was indeed a burr inside the mag. I finally got a chance to head out to the range after coming back from 2 weeks of A.T. and had no problems with the mag since. Thanks for the help!
