I see there is a reproduction M84 scope and mount available from Sarco and Nurmrich. On the website they specifically say for M1D - when I called both companies, the people answering could not confirm these type of units would fit a regular CMP M1 Garand ? Would anyone know or have suggestions ? I have a IHC Expert M1 Garand I was wanting to add a old school scope if affordable - Thanks

The M1D has a specific barrel which has a block and a threaded hole into which you'd screw the scope mount. The M1D scope mount is not compatible with a standard Garand - you would have to have your rifle fitted with an M1D barrel, probably not something you'd want to do with an IHC Expert Grade rifle.

Not without modification. The m1 Garand barrel would require the addition of a barrel block so the scope mount mount will fit. The CMP gunsmithing shop will make this mod or alternatively, can install an M1D barrel.

thank you for the advice and offer - still thinking about the type of vintage scope at this point...just purchased this rifle and have not shot it yet but pretty sure with my eye sight I will probably go with a scope soon....have looked at Hi-Lux scope- any input ?
