A friend asked me to put together some rounds for his M1A and I have looked in the Lyman manual, but he is concerned about over pressure.

If you can direct me to thread here in Sniper's Hide, or post up your experience with loading M1A ammo I'd greatly appreciate it.

42 grains IMR 4895 and 168 SMK. Old match load.

42 grains IMR 4064 and 175 SMK is also a good one.

I've read that if the rifle won't shoot with 41.5 grains of 4895 and a 168SMK loaded to mag length, there is something wrong with the rifle. That is my load for high power. More accurate than I am.

Thank you all. I'm seeing a reoccurring theme here and I think I can safely work out a load that he can shoot and be happy with.

40.3 gr of Benchmark or 40.8 gr of IMR 4895 in a Fed case with CCI 200 and a Hornady 168 gr HPBT
42.2 gr of Benchmark in a Fed case with CCI 200 and a 155 gr Amax
