Suppressors m1a suppression concern

ok, just about everything I have ever learned I have learned the hard way, maybe this will prevent another mistake, about 4 weeks ago I traded for an sks on a fluke deal, I generally don't mess with stuff like that but I thought what the hell, it might be fun to shoot my new pos suppressed so, I removed the grenade launcher, turned it down in my lathe and threaded it 5/8x24 for my aac can, after making sure it was threaded straight and aligned I happily screwed my aac 7.62sd on it an pulled the trigger. After I cleaned the shit out of my eyes I decided that a suppressed sks is a bad idea, the back pressure just shits all the gas and powder residue right back in your face, is this an issue with a suppressed m1a also???? it would be nice to know before I spend the time and money to suppress my supermatch thanks, Joe

there will still be some blowback of gases and whatnot. but not like an sks or an ak. ive shot suppressed ebr's and they were pleasurable. i think shooting an m4 suppressed without a gas buster is much worse.

Yes you do get some blowback, but you can order a USGI blank firing adaptor kit from raparts.com (20.00) that comes with a breech shield. This will help keep the crap from blowing back in your face.

1. The difference between a low pressure and high pressure suppressor. The importance of selecting the right supressor and that the company that sells you that suppressor can also tell you/sell you the parts/services you need to get everything to run properly in gas guns.

2. The importance of an adjustable or tuned gas port/thimble. When not available, knowing to turn off the gas port altogether (manual).

3. The issue can be much greater than just material blown back in your face. Due that with some hosts and you can shear off extractors, bend actuators, throw a bolt into the rear of the receiver, or worse. Knowing the difference between wrecking your host through over pressure and kidding yourself that because the action operates everything is "ok."

4. Yes, M1A, there is a good deal of excellent material here on that very subject. Search for it. FN FAL as well. http://www.awcsystech.com/products/suppressors/spectrum-2000/ this unit can only be purchased by sending you host action into the shop so that the spindle is properly tuned to protect the logevity of the action and the safety of the user.
