Thinking about a possible future build and was wondering if the 338 magnum version of the m2008 will work with CIP length double stack AX 338 mags without any mods to the action, of course assuming all necessary custom work is done to the stock(bottom metal, milling, etc)?

I know that the short action m2008 can take double stack 308 mags, but am not sure if the 338 magnum version can for obvious reasons.

Who is making a stock that will accept the mag would be my girst question?

No one that I know of which is why I said assuming custom work is done to the stock

Re: M2008 338 and AX Double Stack Mag compatibility?

I know the action is long enough to handle the CIP 5 rd mag. I emailed them and asked. I want a left hand 338LM to put in an AICS 2.0 stock but it looks like that AI does not make a left hand 338LM CIP length model.

I can not find it now but it looks like the new AICS AX stock is too shot action wise to fit the M2008 action. There was a post on this site someplace showing a pic of it.

I spoke to Marty @ Badger and he said it was not practical to try to inlet the AX chassis for the M2008. George @ GA Precision said he wanted no part of it and they probably inlet hundreds of AICS's for the M2008. Kinda sucks, I wanted to do an AX chassis, on to other alternatives.

Ya because the Action didn't change from the AW to the AX which the BO is a copy of more or less.

The 338AX is a new design, hence the double stack 338 mags. So I'd hazard a guess that not only would the stock have to be opened up, so would the actual BO Action.....and I don't see a lot of smiths wanting to do that.

No.

Length:8.84” S/A, 9.55” L/A

Bolt diameter wise the m2008 is slightly larger than the aw at .78" vs .75" but smaller than the ax which is around .87" (338 m2008)

Could always ping "Massoud"/Justin with KRG to see what they have coming down the pipe future revisions of the W3C. Personally I like the ergonomics of the W3C a bit more anyhow, but that being said I have not been behind a AX/AXCS - only a AICS with Viper skins.
