M40A1 Sling question

I know that the USMC M40A1 manual shows it being issued with a 1005-00-714-1245 Leather sling. My question is, would the metal hardware on the sling be the standard brass or would it be black steel or even blackened brass?

I'm 99.999999% sure it would be black oxided steel.

Steel hooks came on the scene in 42 and brass hooks left the scene in 43. Any M40A1 rifles would have been issued with parkerized steel hardware if they had leather slings.
