Gunsmithing M98 swedish mauser

I'm looking at have my Swedish mauser 1902 sportarized any suggestions???

Are you sure it is a 1898 Mauser and not a 1986?

To be honest I have had a hard time figuring out exactly what it is... I'm not very good with foreign rifles I did some research and all I could come up with is that it was a 98

1896's cock on closing. 1898's cock on opening and have a third (safety) lug on the bottom of the bolt.

I suggest that you have someone familiar with firearms look at it and determine what exactly you have. While there were many millions of both 1896 and 1898 Mausers manufactures, some have value in their original condition. If you want a sporting rifle, I would suggest you buy one, or trade your rifle for one and leave any military rifles in their original condition.

Thanks I've been up in the air with the sportarized idea. My uncle has one identical to it that he had sportarized... so I didn't exactly know whether it was a good idea or not.

Remingtons are just so cheap...
Or Savage. Savage makes a great out of the box rifle.


I agree on not sporterizing it.
