OK this has been a work in progress for a while and now that its together I have another hurdle. I have loaded some 130gr VLD's and the tip of the bullet hits the breech face. Is this a feed ramp issue or mag or something else all together? I'm using Pmags that's all I have. I could try a different bullet, I have a few 123gr AMax's leftover. I have 1300 VLD's so I hope I can find a way to make them feed.

You guys with 6 and 6.5 Creedmoor have you had problems with feeding long loads? Could someone post a pic of your feed ramps? I used a standard .308 barrel extension.

I had hoped to use this rifle at the TPRC next month but I may be shooting the MK-12 if I cant make this work.

I'm open to any suggestions. I'll take some pics tomorrow its a beautiful rifle but at the same time I'm getting tired of looking at it. I've got a lot of money tied up in a rifle that wont work.

The round's loaded length cannot be any longer than any other round loaded to magazine length; @2.8". Your gun's problem is with the magazine lips, spring, or follower.

Actually, its a junker. Send it to me and I'll pay the shipping to get it out of the way.

Feed ramp / bullet ogive issue.

16-18 radius ogive on VLD isn't helping for smooth feeding in AR. 12-14 radius ogive as found on 139 Scenar, 142 SMK, 130 Norma will feed better.

Without seeing this first hand it is hard to tell for certain. However, George mentioned in the GAP-10 6 Creedmoor thread that to run the hybrids, there were needed mods to feed ramp angle.
Make a dummy round(s) with different bullets to see if it will feed. Narrow down if this is feed ramp issue w/VLD ogive or problem lies elsewhere.

Maroni. If the feed ramp has to bang around on the bullet of a match rifle a bit too much.....bad juju. May cause runout. Adjust your mag lips first, then replace the follower and spring. Try that. The round should be poised ramped up sitting in the mag. One round sitting on another creates the opposite angle of attack.

I don't know if this was the "right" way to fix it but we took off the barrel extension, cut off a thread and put the extension back on with the next two locking lugs acting as feed ramps and then re-chambered it. They are steeper and narrower than the ramps designed for the .308. Now it feeds fine and shoots pretty damn good.

I had some left over ammo for a bolt gun that I sold and I am getting 3/4"@100 yards. I'm sure it will get better with some load development.
