We are finally headed to a long range this summer. So I wanted to make the best of it

I only shoot factory type ammo. So grabbed a Magnetospeed to get a more accurate info for Strelok

I test mounted it on a rifle tonight and wanted to know if the muzzlebrake blast area was safe?
and if the bayonet/bore spacing was safe?
I know they suggest .25, but playing with the combo of spacers, this was the best I could get
(sorry for large pics)

and I also have 2 short barreled(16 inch) 308 rifles. one gas, one bolt
But both have long hand rails and not enough barrel section exposed for mounting.
any adapters or other mounts to make this possible? They are both Keymod rails if that helps

Thank you

I think this will work for my short bolt. I moved the rail/bipod back one space.
and strapped the bayonet to the rail itself. Its an AI rail so it has very little play.
Bore/Bayonet spacing looks good.

I dont know if this will work for the AR rail. The AR rail always have some movement.
But would a same round shot through my 16 inch bolt gun, have different data then the 16 inch of my gas gun?
I know twist rates and barrel characteristics effect velocity. But enough to matter for strelok?

Maybe I am probably overthinking all this??

When you start shooting be sure you check it often. These have a tendency to move and loosen up while shooting, that is one of the reasons people hit them and they get destroyed. Seems to me you’re spacing looks all right, but I would definitely shoot a couple of shots and retighten to make sure it’s not going to move it all

After getting a couple bullet skims across the top of mine from being mounted on an arm instead of the barrel and trying to keeping it within .25 I have moved it to about .5 inches and turned sensitivity up to 6. That has worked well for me.

just watched a video and the guy said he nipped the end of his.
I think I will try that .
.5 and #6
did you notice any errors or odd readings?

No I haven't had or noticed any issues, .5in is just an eyeball guess, I don't actually measure it. Since I use mine on an arm, i stick 2 pieces of .177 cleaning rod in barrel to give trajectory and then just eyeball it parallel and plenty of room. I too would rather miss a shot than buy a new bayonet. I worry alot less now about strikes now. If you find it missing shots turn sensitivity up some more. Works on my 22lr set at 8 until I forgot to change it from 6 so now I just leave it on 6 and works fine for both.
