Considering adding a 4X (or some kind of X) magnifier behind a Trijicon MRO mounted on an AR-15. Not sure how to research this, other than to bang around the obvious vendor web sites and try to form an opinion. Is there anything specific I should be considering or trading off in terms of product features? Sorry that question is so open ended, not sure how to narrow it down. Any advice appreciated.

The EOTech magnifier or Aimpoint will be fine behind the MRO. They are truly simple devices. What boils to next is what mount you will want. Also don't worry if the magnifier is not exactly in-line with the MRO. Both brand magnifiers have centering adjustments to move the image of the dot to suit your taste.
