That depends on if you like the Burris E6 or not. The benefit of the FCS is you can choose your optic/reticle which imo is the most important factor of a scope. Doesn't matter how good the glass is or what technology/features it has. If I do not like the reticle I am not going to want to use it.

But you're limited to 10x. Also I am not a 100% on this, but when you place the HUD infront of your high end lens, now if that HUD is the weakest link, you aren't going to get the image quality you're used to (I assume it uses a mirror system, but still passes through their glass)
lastly for the reticle discussion. the Maztech gives you a POI dot, so I would say your choice is reticle is less relevant since it's doing the math for you (including wind with this which the E6 can't do, except give you a hold based on what you put in the HUD).
I'm being a devil's advocate here. I'd give me left nut for one of those.
I really wanted this unit (I want a AIO LRF/POI solution for a scope) but this is just wayyyy out of my (and many people's) budget I think.
Does the Magpul unit have any haptic feedback? Didn’t see any mention of that during a quick search.
If you want to use a longer range scope just use the 2K or 15K with a diving board mount. I think people are misunderstanding the purpose of the FCS. It is supposed to be a close to medium range rapid engagement scope, similar to the M157 Army programs optic. Why someone would spend 2000+ on any Burris optic is beyond me, I have never liked the glass quality.
Hmmmm, I want to say yes from a youtube review, but I am not %100. Maybe he was comparing LRFs and I got it mixed up lol.
Here's a quick short I filmed yesterday showing ranging speed and distance capability (rocks) for the 15k lrf. Maztech also told me the X4 line would be available on the magpul site today.
Some people might prefer over 10x LPVO for reaching out further. I can tell you I don't see the need for a HUD FCS for 300 yards either. We got marines hitting 500 with iron sights. so depends on what you'd call medium range and your intended end goal. are you trying to snipe? or just hit a target?
for the Burris, the E6 can be had for around 1800. and from what I read here (a lengthy review actually) the E6 glass is actually pretty good. Not top notch, but respectable. add a LRF that can range to 1500-2k. The only comlaint on it is that it's SFP and not a mil reticle, but it's a hunting scope so I can see no need for mils or FFP. not to mention even though it's SFP, the bullet drop and wind calls are adjusted on the range so even though your reticle isn't changing size, your ballistic calculation is changing based on magnification.
you're also mentioning use a dive board and 2K or 15K. That defeats the purpose of a FCS with a built in reticle for POI. that's what everyone is using now. This is a new concept. also that 15K is WAY expensive. out of my budget... that's for sure. yours? I don't know...
really either way, some cool dude will own this thing for 6K and slap on a nice LPVO for 2K and be happy with their futuristic $8,000 scope setup.

10x is plenty for 99% of shooters. Reticle will always matter because you will be using that more than any technology.
Like I said I don't care what technology or features a scope has. If I do not like the reticle I won't shoot it.
other 15K lrf are like $10k. Definitely understand being out of a budget but I do not think its expensive considering what it is

Been on site all morning. Went to lunch (and I mean went downstairs, grabbed food then back up), came back and out of stock lol.
Eh. When I was in swat sniper school, the 10x guys struggled for those specific targeted shots. I was completely fine with 21x. There’s a reason army snipers moved away from 10x too That being said, distances were 300y or less, but we were also trying to hit small targets. I dont see prs or nrl guys shooting at 10x either. I understand your concern about reticle. Each has their own pros and cons. Burris E6 has their own way of doing it. You are welcome to get a 10x scope with your reticle of choice on a lpvo then use the impact point on the reticle. You just will pay 4x the price.
I just think the tech is too infant and it’s too cost prohibitive for the average shooter. You can get top glass with a dive board mount and rifle lrf for this or spend quarter and get similar tech from another company.
I don't think you can. Based off where the LRF is located inside the scope. That's where things like this shine, because you can use them with a clip on. Most clip-on's do well with LPVO or MPVO's so this is a pretty ideal solution to have a disturbed reticle that doesn't rely on your clip on shifting/rail flexing/getting bumped since it's actually tied to the scope/mount itself vs the clip-on.
If it shakes out to be worth a damn and they come out with a version of the mount that takes 1-10's or even better something like a 3-18.
But that's only my use case because I pretty much only shoot in the dark.

Honestly, I want the Thermnight 335. Decent day and night performance with built in LRF and ballistic solution under 2 grand.
