Listening to one of the latest podcasts, and Frank mentions, "Magpul Hunter stocks are okay, if you know how to install it."

I'm assuming he's taking about a technique that isn't covered in the instructions, does anyone know what he's talking about or where I can find the procedure?

Thanks!

I bought it years ago; it's on a plain-Jane r700. Anything else would be like putting racing slicks on a Honda Civic.

You really answered the question, tough. Your advice has been incredibly insightful and intelligent, so thanks for that.

They definitely have their place. Run there mags, through my ARs and sometimes use there mags in my bolt guns. Multiple accessories on a bunch of stuff. I don’t mind them I just don’t like the hunter stock. Bet it’s hand over fist better than a rubber hogue style stock.

They are not expensive. Thats one I don’t get and they have a lot of cool stuff for far cheaper than other big companies.

fair enough. you make good points and they have their place, however for what they are (usually injection molded plastic) the price is a bit high. maybe I am just too old to want their stuff. never had a good experience with what little products from them I've been given, be it pmags or their baby hand sized ar grips and literal trash flip sights. I have always ended up going back to what I had before or used something else.

to each their own, this is america and you can like what you want.

Magpul CTR and MOE-SL are both good carbine stocks. MIAD was a good grip but I’d still go with an ERGO.

Their mags are okay but I’d still rather go with Okay E2.

I guess that’s about it. They have a lot of gimmicks from the tacticool era (Magpul BAD, AFG, etc)

The Hunter stock is pretty ugly, but very functional. It has a decent aluminum foundation for the action to bolt to. I believe I had to purchase longer action screws for the 700 footprint. It’s been several years since and I can’t remember for sure.
