Gunsmithing Manners Buttplate Removal

Has anyone removed the buttplate off a manners carbon fiber stock? Interested in changing mine out but don’t want to tear anything up.

Arent they glued on? And if so doesnt that require cutting it off?

Yes, it’s glued on. Not sure if it has to be cut - hence the question.

Yes, it is glued on. I removed mine by running it through my tablesaw on a jig i built. Sliced the stock just below the black plastic that the buttpad is glued to. Came off smooth as butter.

Why are you guys removing the pads?

I’ve got one with the 3 way adjustable. It makes the LOP longer than expected and it is currently 25% of the weight of the stock.

If it wasn’t a hard swap I was going to just run a normal buttpad.

But......

I was playing around with it last night and figured out how to hack it a bit. I was able to remove 90% of the adjustable hardware and attach the pad to the play that was already there.

It worked great. So now I can use it as non-adjustable and down the road I have the choice to put the hardware back on if needed.

Problem solved.
