Time to give an update on my Roxy's struggles; tomorrow she will be 2weeks post-op from her emergency splenectomy/hemangiosarcoma tumor removal of 22 lbs. She is supposed to start chemotherapy (Doxorubicin) tomorrow for liver metastases. Her oncologist recommended she continue the Chinese herb yunnan baiyou, and is ok with her CBD. She is also getting fenbendazole, and I just bought some turkey tail.
Yesterday she was full of energy, almost ADHD if dogs get that, rearranging and dragging her XL beds around, and her appetite is almost back to normal (year ago normal!). She looks like a different dog going from 130 to 70lbs; yes she was obese but lost a lot of weight with both the cancer and the surgery.
Below, the first pic was her at oncology clinic last week, then her post-op, and pre-op abdomen.

A little update on my pup. He’s been amazing and he’s built quite a bond with my wife and I. He’s on a raw diet and up to 40 ounces of meat a day including bison, lamb, beef, liver, heart and tongue. Sweet potatoes and veggies and grains and any supps that he needs. Wifey is in charge of dietary needs. He’s very well behaved 90% of the time. Mastered sit and down, working on waiting. Does great on the leash and riding in the vehicle. Sleeps in his crate at night. His ears look different every day but they should be standing up equally on their own soon. He’ll be 14 weeks on Thursday, 33.1 pounds today.

Not for sensitive viewers: this is my dog's 22lb tumor that was removed because she bled into it two weeks ago. Pathology confirmed hemangiosarcoma.
For the record, it had doubled in size in less than a month, and even when it was smaller most vets refused touch it because of survival risk and the fact it already spread to her liver. Her primary vet delayed the oncology referral for weeks telling me "just spend quality time with whatever she has left; she won't survive surgery". Hard to due when she was still bringing me toys and clearly enjoying life.
Well, the chance of survival of surgery was 25% or less, especially since it was done urgently due to hemorrhage into the tumor, but she pulled through, and the last three days she has been an ADHD dog and very active. If anyone wants to know who the surgeon was, her name was Dr. Acevedo @ MedVet Dallas.
Roxy was doing so well the last few days it made it even harder to take her for her first chemotherapy appointment today - her appetite was even back to pre-tumor appetite. Again she pulled through... I have been told we need to be especially watchful after 3-5 days, we were sent home with nausea and diarrhea medication.
Again, I would like to thank those who reached out and have offered us support in both prayers and financially with Roxy's GoFundMe.

I took my dog for a walk today where some teenage kids hang out. It’s a big open area mostly sagebrush with a couple of dirt bike and walking trails. At some point, she stopped and ate something off the ground. I didn’t think anything of it because we’ve been there probably 100 times. Turns out to have been a marijuana gummy. She got sick a hour after we got home we had to take her to the vet. She seemed like she had a stroke and vomitted a few times.
They gave her an x-ray. They did a urinalysis on her, and called into see if we used marijuana, it being Washington state, and all. We don’t.
They give her a massive IV to flush the toxins from her system. She’s in the back room now resting, still shaking and peeing a lot and still a bit disoriented. My wife will have to sleep back there with her tonight, because we can’t take her up stairs.
I learned that THC is fatal to dogs and we’re lucky that she’s still alive.

Friends daughter's French Bulldog has eaten blunts off the ground TWICE now. It has cost him thousands of dollars. They almost lost him both times.
I appreciate your sentiment, but it wasn't a loss. It was, Kye was a blessing. No person deserves the loyalty and love a dog like this provides. Took to my daughter day 1. Protected her and allowed her to use him for joy, obviously, that ls a 5 year old riding a dog like a horse. Taught my adopted son that love is real after being abandoned by sperm donor. It was a gift that we were blessed by him for 5 years. Still Fuck Cancer.
