I am pleased to announce the return of the Mason Dixon Sniper series for 2014.

Some things remained the same, some things have been tweaked. Matches will be conducted at the Mayberry Game Protective Association in Westminster MD, and the New Holland Rifle and Pistol Club in Gap PA.

There will be four qualifying matches, two at each venue. We will use a maximum of your three highest scores to determine eligibility for the series finale. Individual match winners are automatically qualified for the finale. Shooters must submit scores from both venues to be eligible for the finale. The final standing for the series will be the total of your qualifying match scores and the finale score, you must compete in the finale to be eligible for series awards.

The matches will now be scored on a curve type scoring model. Series points will be determined by dividing your score for the match by the match winner's score.

Scores will also be submitted for TRL rankings.

Additonal match details and registration information will be posted prior to each match.

Dates are as follow: New Holland Rifle and Pistol Club, April 27 and June 29. Mayberry Game Protective Association, July 20, August 17.

Hope to see you at the range.

Steve B.

Steve
Thanks for posting the dates. My trusty 260 will be ready! Counting on you and any other match directors to be as diabolical as possible.

Perhaps a stupid question...TRL?

TRL = the new Tactical Rifleman's League on SH. It's a way for local matches to count towards a universal ranking system here on the hide. Pretty cool if you ask me.

I'm excited to get back as well. Only got to shoot Mayberry once last year and am looking forward to getting back down there. Thanks for posting this well in advance.

question on reg postings. will there be a set date for reg announcements. say 3 weeks before match?

just so there is a consistent process.

last year it was a crapshoot when it was posted.

Steve;
Thanks for the info and the invitation. I'm sorry to say that I am too terrified of harassment by MD state troopers to attend your shoots. Since MD decided to exit the Constitution, I avoid MD as much as possible. Best of luck there;

Dearest JJ;

We do not have a problem with LE at Mayberry. I am glad to hear you will not be gracing us with your presence.

It's nice to know that there are some gun owners in MD. When considering a job at APG, I quivered at the thought of living in a gun-free area rich in democrats and liberals. This post gives me hope for MD.

Glad to see you guys still holding out against such an intolerant unconstitutional regime, good luck with the matches! Anyone else travelling to Fairyland
FYI
On April 4, 2013, the Maryland General Assembly approved legislation imposing significant new restrictions on gun ownership. The bills ban the sale of certain semi-automatic firearms that they define as assault weapons, limit magazine capacity to ten rounds, require that handgun purchasers be fingerprinted and pass a training class in order to obtain a handgun license, and bar persons who have been involuntarily committed to a mental health institution from possessing firearms. Governor Martin O'Malley signed the legislation into law on May 16, 2013.[12]
Learn the laws before you travel to such a place LE problems or not ...better educated and safe than sorry

Maryland state Senator John C. Astle (USMCR) asked for and obtained a published opinion letter from the Maryland AG's office for use by lawful owners of our beloved black rifles in case an uninformed member of the law enforcement community might take issue with someone driving into or through Maryland for a lawful purpose such as hunting or competing. You might want to print a few copies of this to keep in your rifle case(s). I can understand the confusion. Misguided politicians in Maryland (e.g., Mr. Frosh) are now campaigning and saying "Assault Weapons are Banned" and that statement is flat wrong, as you can see from this letter from Maryland's Assistant Attorney General. Facts are stubborn things, and the truth will eventually bear out. Anyone seeking confirmation of the substance of this letter can also contact the Maryland AG's office and confirm that Sen. Astle did indeed receive the opinion. Senator Astle is also likely to be available to confirm everything here MD AG letter to Senator JCA.jpg.

James,
Not to be a bother but could you post the finals match scores as well. It would be nice to see how the points/percentages played out with regards to the final standings. Also, I am assuming that the number on the list multiplied by 100 would give us our totals.

Thanks,

The Capn'
