I just traded for a .308 that honestly has the largest diameter barrel contour on it I’ve ever seen in person. A rough measurement was 1.125” straight. It has a blended brake and large flutes. Can’t see the chamber face to see a name. Damn nice work on the brake blend and stock modification to accept the beast. Was just trying to see if anyone may know a barrel maker possibly who does a barrel this heavy. This rifle has all HS Precision parts. I know HS did a complete rifle called a HTR or something, but I don’t think it had a barrel this big. Any information is appreciated.

Full profile, Full Blank, No Taper, they go by several names, and are most popular in the BR community, though that is not a BR rifle. It is an easy way to add weight to a rifle without getting creative with weights and such. It probably has really mild recoil, which is what the builder was going for...

Do some of you guys live in a cave.
The large diameter barrels have been a round a long time.
Go to the 2mile shoot out and look at those rifles.
Go to a long or short range match.
I just built a 223 with a 1.25 straight 7tw 28" long for 1000 yds. either bench or bag shooting.
Pick it up today
They are there. Even some 22 rf rifles have LV or HV barrels.
Yes they are heavy they do give better repeatability when shooting long strings.
Just bulk up before the match and carry on.

Living in a cave keeps the window cost down, not to mention AC.

My barrels are 1.25 straight taper; but that is no StraightJacket. "Barrel block(?), breech block(?)", something to that effect, I believe is what the truck axles are used for in BR. But I dont believe that's what you have there either. Take action out and flip the barrel over?

Weigh the rifle. If it's under 18.12# it's likely set up for FTR F Class competition. Brake gets unscrewed and the rifle JUST makes weight with the flutes. Curious if it's long throated for 200gr 30 cals?

Like the previos guys stated, the 1.25" straight is the standard un-profiled blank. The brake and flutes are a little odd if this is a highpower rifle, but not unheard of.

Should be a pussycat to shoot at that weight. Might need a set of wheels to get itnto the firing line though. ...

I’ll weigh it this evening and see what it weighs. I measured the chamber with a Hornady tool with a 168 ELDM and it was 2.116 at the OJIVE 4 times in a row. Twist rate is 1:10.

No kidding. Its lighter than it looks. You have room for a wider bipod or a heavier scope of you wanted to pull the brake off and shoot F Class.
