i recently like a million others have gotten into reloading with the rest of my family we purchased the following:
1 hornady progressive lock and load
2 rcbs chargmaster
3 rcbs auto trimmer
and assorted other necessary items, my question is i intend to load match grade 308 mainly sierra 175gr matchkings and some barnes 175gr matchburners what die do you all recommend for me. some of the match dies say not for progressive so what ones will work? again its for match ammo not plinking stuff.

i know some of you have been loading for many years and hate answering the basics over and over but please if you can bare to share with me id surely appreciate it.

thank you all

If you intend to load match grade ammo, I would get a single stage press to set beside your progressive.

Redding makes great match grade dies. I use a type S full length to bump the shoulders.

I really like the L.E. wilson seater die. I don't think you will find a more accurate one out there, however, wilson dies also require an arbor press.

I use RCBS (Rock Chuck Blasting Society) dies, standard ones, and get plenty of accuracy. Just be sure to screw the die down onto the top of the ram, with the ram in its highest position. That "squares" the die to the ram, and your cases will be straight. Then, if you don't have a way to measure shoulder set-back, screw the die in another 1/8 turn, against the ram's pressure (jut enough pressure to maintain square). Then start lubing and sizing. When you seat bullets, you also want to square the die. You will need something like a thick washer to place on top of the ram, so that there is at least a nickel-wide gap between the die and the ram when you are seating. This prevents the seating die from putting a crimp on the case. We don't need no stinking crimp! Ammo loaded this way saves lots of $ on dies.

Rockchucker press. Redding makes some nice bushing dies as does Forester. Use good components to make good ammo. I like the Redding Micrometer seaters, especially when working up a new load with several different bullets and or seating depths. use a hand primer to feel primer seating. Adjust your dies to fit your gun, both seater and sizer.
