Will a 7.62 "can" mount on both the above brakes? Looking to get one can to work with both calibers... and if so what suppressor do you recommend (I know loaded question here...sorry). The lighter the better and first hand expereince with SF cans is a plus here. Just got my paper work turned in and I'm looking to move ahead with a plan.

The above brakes are currently attached to my LWRC REPR and M6A3... I talk to a SF rep awhile ago on this topic and it was unclear (he wasn't sure either).

    thanks in advacned

I will find out for you they should though. you only choice of suppressor using these breaks is the FA762SS it weighs 19oz and is an excelent suppressor. PM for price.

If you want other options the AAC 762-SDN-6 is a excellent choice as well but then you have to buy two more breaks and probebly would not save any money at all.

That is incorrect. The FA762SS will work on any 762ss adaptor as well as a 556ar adaptor and a 6.8ar adaptor.

You will be fine running a 762SS suppressor on both of those rifles and adaptors. The only thing is the 762 suppressor on a 556 host rifle might be a little louder. I have shot our 762 suppressors on 556 rifles for demo's to customers and while it does work it is not going to perform quite as good as a dedicated 223 can because of the larger bore diameter. That being said that can has a lot more volume so it isn't greatly different than a 556 dedicated can so you won't have any issues.

Re: MB556AR and MB762SSAL/RE MUZZLE BRAKE ADAPTER

I was wondering the same thing. Was thinking of getting the 762SS for my bolt gun and was hoping to put an mb556 on my ar and use the 762 on it for same reason, just one suppressor for both rifles.

Thanks for asking and thanks for answering!

You can also use a FA762K on a 556 adaptor but you would have to use the K adaptors to do so.

I purchased a MB556AR based on a similar statement awhile back by Garin Lee and it does not lock... Also I found this afterwards:

Also the 7.62 adapters will not work with the 338 suppressors. The 338 cans have a larger lock ring and opening for the back sections.
If you stay with in the "family" of suppressors you are good most of the time. ie..FA762K works on a MB556K adapter.

Hey guys sorry about the delay. I have been out for some time. Here is the skinny on the 762SS and the MB556AR adapter issue. When this question first came up it the combo was not on my combatable chart so I did ask Barry Dueck if that was a option. Green light was given. I did not hear of any issues until recently. A customer sent back a MB556AR so I checked it out and it would not properly lock in the 762SS timing gage. The issue stems from a oversight that both of us missed is the 762SS back section rear bearing surface is at a shallower angle than the steeper angle on the MB556AR not allowing the FA762SS to properly work with the adapter in all applications. The reason is the FA762SS ring/lock bar most likely will be under timed on the MB556AR thus running out of teeth on the locking bar, resulting in a loose suppressor on the adapter. Due to our recent findings we at SureFire cannot recommend this suppressor/adapter application. We have decided to make a few special adapters with 1/2x28/762SS profile for those customers that did make a purchase of a FA762SS and a MB556AR due to my previous information. I apologize for any confusion. I hate making mistakes but we will correct them. If you do have any issues on this application please contact me.

I talked to Barry about this and we have decided to make a FA762SS adapter with a 1/2x28 thread a normal production item for you guys needing to run this suppressor on a 5.56. The brake will be designed for the recoil of the 5.56 but have the right shoulder for timing on the 762 SS suppressor. We will keep you guys running in the right direction and never meant to get anyone off course.

So now I patiently await the new adapter to be released...
