I currently have a M40 stock on my 308 and am looking in other directions.
I shoot from the prone 90% of the time and the rifle will be used for low speed paper punching, F/TR and the occasional deer.

I bought my brother a Vostok CM2 that has a similar stock the the McM prone stock and its grip really changed the way I looked at rifle stocks.

Are there any advantages to an A3/A3-5 series or Baker Special over the prone?

Here is the stock i like for shooting prone. I have seen this stock in GAP camo and it was pretty cool. Mcmillan F-Class

The McM prone is a copy of the Anschutz 1411 prone stock. It is very common to take a 10" disc sander to the 1411 wood stock working down the cheek rollover from the left side of the stock in order to get a good head position and keep the rifle vertical. On the McM copy you can make a wood cheek rest and narrow it down but you cannot sand the side of the main stock.

Bottom line is spend some time on one before committing.
