First off, thanks for any replies I might get. I have been a non-member "lurker" for quite some time.....learned A TON!!!!

I have been shopping for a McM A5 in Desert Camo for my SPS Tactical. So far there there is one in stock at each Bruno's and Midway (with differing options). However, here's my question.

Bruno's lists the stock as "full inlet" while Midway sates "Semi inlet".

Is the "semi inlet" simply contoured for a barrel? Or has it been inletted for factory BDL bottom metal?

Re: McMillan Semi Inlet

I think most are called semi inlett, but the McM's inlettings have been super damn close every one I have. Maybe midway is just covering their ass on that so someone doesn't buy it with a diff contour barrel and expect it to fit. You can also just call midway and ask, they will put you on with a Tech who may or may not have a freakin clue.

You can also look at the following alternatives for this stock

You should look at JW-Precision who is a sponsor here

Third Generation shooter supply also has some A5's

Re: McMillan Semi Inlet

I considered calling Midway but wasn't sure what kind I response I'd get. I suppose I should call any way.

I would hate to buy a stock that was simply contoured for a barrel without inletting for the action, recoil lug, and bottom metal.

Re: McMillan Semi Inlet

I seen one of those Midway purchased semi inlet stocks before. It is inletted for a Rem 700 action and BDL. The barrel channel is for the varmint profile. It just seems like the semi they advertise is not as cleaned up with the inlet like a Mcmillan you would buy from JW precision. What I mean is it still looks a little rough. A stock from JW will have all clean cut inlet.

Re: McMillan Semi Inlet

8up,

Well then Midway might be he route I take seeing that as I will need the stock milled for Badger or CDI BM anyway. I thought I saw a review from a buyer that mentioned something to the effect of not being cleanly inlet.

Thanks for the reccomendations for JW an Third Gen. Ive heard good things about them on the Hide. Unfortunately, they don't currently have what I'm looking for.
