Ok. I’ll start this out by saying damn! First high end stock bought off a forum member. I’m more of a chassis guy (MPA, etc), so this was the first time I had to work with fiberglass stock.

I knew there would be potentially some modifications (stock and DBM) to make the Magpul DBM fit and line up.

I tried to make it work because I The Magpul laying around from a previous build. Long story short I took too much fiberglass off the right hand screw (shorter action screw location)... I know, I know... in hindsight I should have went with a badger, PTG, Selina DBM... f#ck!

Everything is in and functioning as it should. The magazine is a bit tight and doesn’t drop freely, the trigger is a bit close to the trigger guard (but still functions, just have to open up the trigger guard to be sure) I can live with all that.

Here are my newbie questions.

- If I call Mcmillan can they fix this? I know, at my cost any idea how much? Not sure how to work with fiberglass.

- How can I strengthening up and fix it myself (running to Home Depot) Epoxy?

- Should I bed the whole entire action and fill in and around the DBM where I had to open up the stock to fit the Magpul DBM, which in turn will fill the area around the action screw hole.

- any other suggestions?

Lastly, go easy on me lol. I actually was thinking not to post this, cause I’m an idiot to take it down that far.... to be honest I don’t actually think I took a lot off, I think there wasn’t a lot of space to begin with from the previous DBM that was installed and just didn’t take it slow. Anyway, I didn’t take a before and after of how much material I took off. Totally my issue and what’s done is done, move on lol... just f$#k!

Happy Sunday!

Suggestions, comments, jokes/idiot comments (not really), all welcome...

I don't think that is a Manners stock. That said, I think using the correct bottom metal would be a far better option. Any minor filling you needed after that could be done with bedding, epoxy, JB weld. The Magpul piece is really just made to fit their stock. Others have made it work in Remington BDL openings by removing a little material. Your stock seems to be made for Badger ect... M5 DBM.

Totally right! Sorry, it’s a McMillian. Updated.

Thanks for the advice. I’m going to get a true M5 DBM.

I have the magpul in 2 Bell and Carlson stocks. One long, and one short action. I had read that the trigger wound up close to the guard; both of mine are close, but do not touch. I figured, you dont go behind the trigger anyway, so as long as no contact, I was good. My short action was a tighter fit than the long. I had to file quite a bit to get the mag to run smooth. Slow and steady wins the race. Good on ya for giving it the DIY go ahead. She'll clean up.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Ultimately I know I should have waited for DBM M5,... definitely go with a PTG or Seekins. Badger is over $300, almost half of what I paid for the A6 used. Unreal...

The badger is time tested. when I restock my win mag, if not in a chassis, it will get a Badger. In the meantime, I have no problems or quarrels with the Magpul. Cant seem to dent or deform the mags in my pack, or by dropping them, or anything that has yet to stop them from feeding. Modern plastics have come a long way. Good luck with your build. I really like those McMillan stocks ?

Just continue with it!
I put a Magpul in a HS precision, keep grinding until the bottom metal goes in without binding ( I assume that's why your mag is tight)

In the end you can use marine Tex or jb weld to add material if you need, or just ignore it, no one is going to see the bottom of the rifle anyway ;)

I might as well finish off the magpul DBM to get it flush, is there any reason why I shouldn’t at this point? I mean, if I do decided to go Badger, etc... it doesn’t matter because they are all M5 spec and are ‘plug and play’ so I can’t do any more harm by removing any additional material from the McMillan stock... correct?

How much is your time worth? By the time you are all done grinding on the magpul you could just save yourself the time and frustration and get the correct piece from badger. Expensive yes, worth it? 500% it is. Badger is top notch.

While I agree with your statement 100%; both of my Magpul inlets took me 30 mins each with a dremel and files on my bench. And I value my time considerably
