Ok. I’ll start this out by saying damn! First high end stock bought off a forum member. I’m more of a chassis guy (MPA, etc), so this was the first time I had to work with fiberglass stock.
I knew there would be potentially some modifications (stock and DBM) to make the Magpul DBM fit and line up.
I tried to make it work because I The Magpul laying around from a previous build. Long story short I took too much fiberglass off the right hand screw (shorter action screw location)... I know, I know... in hindsight I should have went with a badger, PTG, Selina DBM... f#ck!
Everything is in and functioning as it should. The magazine is a bit tight and doesn’t drop freely, the trigger is a bit close to the trigger guard (but still functions, just have to open up the trigger guard to be sure) I can live with all that.
Here are my newbie questions.
- If I call Mcmillan can they fix this? I know, at my cost any idea how much? Not sure how to work with fiberglass.
- How can I strengthening up and fix it myself (running to Home Depot) Epoxy?
- Should I bed the whole entire action and fill in and around the DBM where I had to open up the stock to fit the Magpul DBM, which in turn will fill the area around the action screw hole.
- any other suggestions?
Lastly, go easy on me lol. I actually was thinking not to post this, cause I’m an idiot to take it down that far.... to be honest I don’t actually think I took a lot off, I think there wasn’t a lot of space to begin with from the previous DBM that was installed and just didn’t take it slow. Anyway, I didn’t take a before and after of how much material I took off. Totally my issue and what’s done is done, move on lol... just f$#k!
Happy Sunday!
Suggestions, comments, jokes/idiot comments (not really), all welcome...
