McRees Chassis range reports

Re: McRees Chassis range reports

If you were at the Big Piney shoot this weekend I would have let you shoot my Rem 700 .300WM with the McRee stock on it.
I like the stock!

Re: McRees Chassis range reports

Buy some extra mags, put the stock pack on there, a TAB sling, nice trigger and action and have a great time shooting!

You'll like it.

Re: McRees Chassis range reports

Put mine together this morning. Went together very easy. Changed the grip to a tango down, threw an AI 10 round mag in it, all go so far. I have the folder. There is a small bit of wobble, but i don't mind, the convenience of the folder is worth it. TAB sling attached, just gotta get to the range now.

Re: McRees Chassis range reports

OK, went to the range this afternoon. What a difference. Groups are smaller, less fely recoil, overall a great product. Fired 25 rounds. Once the zero, was confirmed, i fired a 2 5 shot groups, then shot some dots. Both groups where smaller than any i had fired in the past. .68, and .72, not bad for a stock remington barrel at 200 yards.
My only real complaint is the aluminum check piece. At 30 degrees today, it was quite cold. Looks like I will be getting a stock pack to cover it up.

I have the stock pack and like it for the same reason plus I can put some tools in it.

Re: McRees Chassis range reports

Scott now is offering the chassis for the FN SPR/PBR-XP chassis.

Yes it is aluminum so all the pro's and cons of having an all metal chassis apply. He does sell a cheek cover that is made specifically for the chassis, so that should help the comfort significantly.

I have one that was delivered to my smith for a build I am having done. I think the key is to think it though and pick the right tool/equipment for your wants/needs. (just my opinion).

Re: McRees Chassis range reports

I have to say the Mcree is the only system that works w/o bedding, most of the others need to be skim bedded to get the best out of a barreled action. It realy is a very nice system, well thought out and very high quality. My only complaint it the hinge in the folder dosent lock up as tight as a TRG or AI. This is the only complaint I could find and I am very picky. I could not get the very slight ammount of movement in the hinge to change my point of impact or overall accuracy, and I tried by holding the rifle in my shoulder differently from shot to shot but if the fundamentals are there its on the money. I would highly recomend this stock to anyone!

What kind of accuracy did you get out of your AI? I was going to bed mine if necessary but it shoots very consistently better than half MOA at 100 if I do my part.

Re: McRees Chassis range reports

I love mine too. I went from an HS Precision police stock and my comfort level is now much better. My groups seem to be more consistent now that I can get comfortable behind the gun.
