Firstly my apologies for being away. Lots of things happening ehjcb I hope to update you on shortly.

Now to this. Im now a federal employee and through the union we have health insurance for ourselves and families. Literally thousands of staff are in it.

So when I joined first one of the questions is about past injuries. Well I've been shot twice, stabbed and blown up. So the list was extensive. The company refused to cover me, though they accepted my wife and kids. So I went back to the union and they went Ape shit.. So today I got a call from the union to say they had strong words with them. I've to attend an appointment with the Chief MO for the government here and they will submit a report back to the union and they in turn to the insurance company. I've same the letters sent and the union threatened to bring a lawsuit for discrimination on my behalf.

I'm an injured vet. I was quite pissed off initially but happy that they stepped up for me. Ironically thanks to political correctness I'm fully legally protected in my job as well.

Any of you guys ever had anything similar.

I think the number of people fucked over by insurance companies on a daily basis are legion. My wife has medical issues and I can't tell you how many times the insurance companies want to play fuck fuck games about medications, tests, and procedures that the doctor requested. Don't get me started on those motherfuckers either. Coincidentally, most of our issues started shortly after March 23, 2010.

Good luck.

Well I have a strong union behind me and a decent employer not keen to have any negative headlines about medical insurance discriminating against an injured vet

Odumbo got you free insurance if you had no job paid for by premium increases levied on people with jobs
Hey sounds like an extra tax on people with jobs, how original

anyway, never been in your shoes (never been shot) but the medical industry fucks with everyone, I have been through my share of stupid phone calls and stupid games and lost money etc etc etc

oh and the countless hours of wasted time that costs no one but me

I believe speaking to medical companies is like serving a prison sentence, its time spent doing something I have no choice in doing, but must do, and time I am unable to spend doing what I want to do

Been through it the past 2 years. Insurance companies are the biggest mob in the world. They ARE NOT in the business of paying out. Trust me. They do everything in their power to avoid paying and force you to jump through hoops to force them. It's a tactic. The majority give up and dont fight..

I pay $1500 a month for insurance with a $15,000 deductible. Last year's out of pocket was $12,000 and only $250 was applied to the deductible. Now, thats' affordable insurance!

Wow that is really bad. I know quotes for health insurance are individualized, but have you shopped that around?? Unless there is something specific causing that, I would imagine you could find a better plan, but understand cases exist where you can't

I have a sick child that needs repeat $20,000 treatment every 8 weeks
I am full time employed with a company that offers a $6000 out of pocket max for the year plan if I stay in network
It's easy enough to stay in network, the network has everything I need with Drs I like

The more and more I see, I feel like I have an awesome plan by today's standards

The only number I ever look at is the out of pocket maximum

I am self employed with no employees so I am unable to buy group insurance

All individual insurance companies have left the state. My only option is Obamination care.

The Republicans held all 3 branches for 2 years and did NOTHING to fix healthcare

Yes, I am fucking pissed
