Just finished this lightweight 6.5 for my brother that is a phenomenal rifle and planned on building one for me in 6.5 Lapua but I don’t know if I’m going to be able to pull the full budget. I’m thinking doing a TL3 rather than the Origin and doing a Solid steel 22” marksman contour with flutes. Anybody have a similar rifle already that can give me some idea of weight and Balance I can compare?

Origin, 22” 3b vs flutes.
123 Scenars in the 6.5 Lapua would be sweet.
Check though, pretty sure the 6.5 Lapua brass is on temporary production hold by Lapua….
May have to embrace the rainbow and go Creedmoor! 🤣

Find a stock you like.
Im diggin the Mesa Precision ones.

@cattleman99 had a nice CF stock FS for a bit, not sure if it is still up.

Really tough part is, a Proof CF prefit is same price than a high end blank and smithing fees, if you skip flutes and cerakote. 😬

I’m good on 6.5 lapua brass I have 500. I really like the feel of the manners LRH. It’s my first bighorn I’ve handled and it’s a very interesting action coming from surgeons and impacts. I can’t understate how nice this rifle is in person.

The build in the picture is 9.2 LB’s ide be ok with it going to 13 pounds. What do y’all have that’s equivalent to the hawk hill marksman? I’ve had nothing but y’all’s barrels since my last hawk hill 5 years ago for my PRS rifles.
The Hawk Hill Marksman contour we do is a palma contour. It has a .970" neck and a .870" muzzle at 28".

So it's in between our med and hvy palma. The med. has a .820" muzzle at 30" and the hvy has .900" @ 30". The necks on these are .920" and 1" respectively.

If you want the Marksman contour...no big deal. Done them before.

The Marksman contour isn't on our contour page but like I said we do them and you can see the dimensions on the other palma barrels. Also listed are the weights.

I have a r700sa with a 26in benchmark mtu contour (measures .940 at at the brake which is spun down to the barrel). Also chambered in 6.5x47. It's in a krg bravo with a mid weight scope and an old Harris bipod. Just weighed in at 15.7lbs unloaded. I measured 4in down from the muzzle for 22in and it's about 1.00in.

It's a tad front heavy and I want to experiment weighting the butt area a little to help with balance. Krgs site says the bravo is about 3lbs. I sometimes wish I had bought their #7 contour instead of mtu just for the balance, but I'm happy with it and don't really think about it much. (They had one of each ready to ship when I bought it).

That's a little off of what your build is but just a reference point for weight :)

I went FAT ( MTU ) & Short 17" on a 6.5 Creed. I run 9" suppressor that is almost 2.5 lb. Full rifle w/ 5 round mag is in the 14 lb mark I believe. It shoots well and handles even better. Origin Action.

I actually have a good bartlien 6.5 lapua barrel I thought about chopping down to 22 and fluting but I may just start over with a schmedium Palma from bartlien and not be out much more money just starting over with it and having exactly what I want

I've got a Rem 700 with a 24" Sendero contour 6.5 Creed Hawk Hill barrel. In a MDT HNT26 (integral arca rail and folder) and with a Razor LHT 4.5-22 in a Spuhr hunting mount and with a lightweight double-pull Ckyepod it's a few ounces shy of 12lbs (unloaded). It's a really nice, soft shooting rifle (has an Insite Arms lightweight Heathen brake) and I get 2750fps out of 140 ELDMs with N160. Bagged a nice 4-pointer with it yesterday :)
