OK,looking for an ar in the $800 +/- range. 18",1/8 (1/7 right gun/price) 223 wylde only. have looked at some here and on broker. brands i am seeing in my price range: rock river,PSA,matrix aerospace, aero prec, armalite and 1 LWRC black rain that i have doubts about due to low price. i do know what LWRCs go for. ruger and smith don't offer wylde chamberings. some brands just have nothing out there good or bad. lucked into a noveske at a firesale price. that isn't happening again. my expensive build in 223 rem is good but it's 223 rem. any input, experience etc appreciated. no,i'm not going to try and build one.

Do you want a full rifle, or would you entertain buying an upper? Your money will go farther with an upper that you can pin to your existing lower. That said, I don't think you will see a large performance difference going from a standard chamber to a wylde chamber- the cartridge specs are unchanged.

Have you considered building your own? With a little patience and sales going on for Father’s Day and the 4th of July coming up you could probably get a lot of parts on sale. I love my 18 inch AR that I built. If you want factory my vote is RRA, I have elite operator 2 (I know it’s not 18 inch and sample of 1) and it’s really accurate and utterly reliable.

Edit my post above, it won’t let me edit from my phone, sorry I looked over you not wanting build your own but still RRA. My wife used to have a PSA and it was awesome for the money and they always of sales going on.

Mossoak has good advice. build.

buy on sale, and/or used. look on your local armslist for parts and start putting together the rifle you want with the budget you want. is $800 just for the carbine? does that price include mags, sling, sights, scope, light, etc? do your research and buy once, don't buy something because it's cheap when you will replace it in a year.

don't sweat the wylde chamber, just get the best parts you can - there are plenty of excellent youtube videos explaining the sets.

an additional though.
sigh up for emails from Palmetto State, Aero Precision, Geissele, Midway, Brownells, Primary Arms, etc. yes, you'll get spammed (filter them to a specific folder) but you'll also find out about sale that don't necessarily hit the front pages of their website. Never pay full price unless it's something you have to have, or you need it quickly. There are some parts you probably won't get on sale (custom barrel) but just about everything else you can.

Go to the equipment exchange grab one of those seekins 30% off coupons someome is trying to sell for like $40 bucks and i bet you come away with a nice seekins for around that price.
