I ordered a Millett TRS-1 from US Armorment. It had a problem where the windage knob had a cant to it due to a crooked screw. Called the guy, he said it was a warranty issue and to call bushnell. Called bushnell, they said to return it back to the place where I purchased it. Called USArmorment again, he called (so he said but I suspect that he didn't because he got through right away where as i had to wait on hold for a while) bushnell while I was on hold and said for me to call bushnell right away they were going to take care of it. Called bushnell and talked to Jacob after arguing with them for 30 minutes he sent me a new one very quickly. Now when I mount this scope on my rifle and bore sight it I have to unscrew the elevation knob all the way to the top to get it on the paper. So, I change to a one piece base, lap the scope rings, still the same. I mount another scope and it works fine. I'm at my wits end here. Is there something obvious that I am missing? Burris XTR rings, Savage Mod 10, Burris two piece or EWG one piece picatinny rail.

Re: Millett TRS-1 problems

I should add that I am bore sighting by sight, looking down the barrel with the receiver out and that I have not shot the gun to test. But it still seems awfully out of wack.

Re: Millett TRS-1 problems

you wont know til you shoot it, but my trs-1 was broken right out of the box. have you tried to center the elevation and windage? jacob is a good guy, hooked me up. i did ask him to make sure that the scope that was sent out was working, but i would think they would do that without having to be told. you might want to run the knobs all the way up/down and left/right a few times, then find the center of the adjustments. i like milletts, but there are some quality issues. they are quick to help you though.

usually when you buy something you have 30 days to return it. after that it gets sticky. but during that time, its the retailers job to swap you out, not to pawn you off on the manufacturer. i wouldnt have anything to do with that seller again, but thats just me. optics planet or swfa even midway would have swapped you out with no questions.

Re: Millett TRS-1 problems

Yea, I found the mechanical center by finding the range of the knobs and then dialing back half way. 75 moa. Not quite the 100 I have heard about on some of the forums, but it should still be enough. I have heard also that the barrel might be out of alignment. The scope that I used to test was off of an ar 15 with a carry handle, so it would have been ALOT higher off of the action. Still, it was pretty close. I don't want to spend all my ammo money shipping things back and forth until I can isolate the problem.

I second that.
That's crappy customer service on US Armorment's side. To alleviate time and frustration they should of just sent you a new one and take care of the RMA themselves but at least Bushnell came thru.

Double check the installation including the ones on the rings.

Your method of looking in thru the barrel by removing the bolt should work well to get on paper. I would say if everything checks out then the scope must have an issue.

Re: Millett TRS-1 problems

Let me get this straight- you're concerned about the quality of your scope, but have yet to actually shoot the setup and actually zero your scope?

Please tell me I'm confused. I'm seriously considering one of these scopes for my build and want to make sure you're having a real problem.

When will you actually sight in and let us know what's going on?
