Headed to the machinist this week and just wanted to check my math vs that of those of you who have already done this.

Looks like I will have to go .050" deep with a length of 1.53" to make my 28MOA mount accept this scope. In addition, those who have done this, did you make your cut in order for the scope to be centered to the mount thus putting the FRONT ring as close to the bell as possible or did you make the cut so that the FRONT ring will have equal space on both sides of the ring between the turret housing and the front of the scope. I'm talking about the section of the main tube that sits in front of the turret housing that measures 1.5" in length.

    TIA,
    RR

I machined mine so the "bell" was equal between the rings..

I had mine milled the same way as wooferocau for my 5-25x56. Because I didn't know the amount that needed to be taken off, I bought the mount to the machine shop with my scope. I had a wide enough area taken off to allow some front to rear movement of the scope for positioning. It has worked out well, they machined off just enough so I can get a .013 feeler in between the housing and the mount once torqued down.

Edit- RR- if you need me to measure how wide a section they cut out, I can do that for you, just PM me. It was definitely more than wooferocau had his machined. I can move my scope from the front to the rear within the limits of the other hardware without my erector housing contacting the mount. After about 1,000 rounds, I have no reason to believe the amount of material I have had machined off my 18 moa mount has compromised it in any way.
